Our Grant Winners for 2016

BLUE HERON FARMS (WENDY AND GORDON CHRISTOFF)  DEVELOPING FEI RIDER GRANT $500

The Developing FEI Rider grant was for an exemplary rider competing at 4th Level or higher within the past year. The grant was used for a developing rider clinic. Congratulations EHREN VOLK OF VANCOUVER ISLAND, NOW A WORKING STUDENT IN CALIFORNIA!

CARNARVON FARM (JANE MACDONALD) TWO ADULT AMATEUR GRANTS $500

Two Carnarvon Farm grants were to assist Adult Amateurs in pursuit of dressage education. Any Adult Amateurs competing in the past year between Training and Third Level were eligible to apply. The riders must use the grant to attend a clinic. The winners were Vanessa Whittell of Langley and Kristen Guest of Prince George. 

COTTONWOOD FARM WORKING STUDENT GRANT (Dr. Duncan Murray) $500

The criteria for this grant was based on current competition record, training experience as a working student, and individual initiatives within the horse industry. The intent of the funding is to support the athlete's FEI competition aspirations. The winner was Alysha Sauve of Maple Ridge.
 

"LEX" FEI ADULT AMATEUR GRANT
(SANDRA NISSEN) $500

This grant was aimed for Adult Amateur Education toward the goal of qualifying scores and preparation for a CDI. The winner was Jane Essig of Ladysmith.


HIGH POINT EQUESTRIAN CLUB STABLING GRANT

This Grant was intended to assist dressage riders pursuing education in a Symposium, Clinic or licensed competition. High Point Equestrian Club provided  3 days of full stabling services at HPEC in Langley BC to a Young Rider, Amateur or Professional (age 18-50) who competed in the last year. The winner was Mark Lawland of Surrey.


HIGH POINT EQUESTRIAN CLUB YOUNG HORSE COMPETITION GRANT

This Grant was intended to assist dressage riders with a young horse, 6 years or younger. HPEC provided 2 days of show stabling and 2 free tests at one of the Diamond Dressage Shows in 2016. For Youth, Amateur or Professional showing a horse of 6 years old or younger. The winner was Julia Pesek of Langley.

Scott Hayes "ASPIRE TO INSPIRE" MOST IMPROVED RIDER GRANT$800       
Open to riders domiciled in BC, Open and Amateur, competing Training through Grand Prix, including FEI Junior, Young Rider, FEI Para Equestrian and FEI riding in National and CDI competitions in Canada and/or the USA. The Grant was awarded to the dressage rider who best met the following criteria: Showed the most improvement in scores over the duration of the competition season, demonstrated a willingness to learn and grow as a person, proven leadership qualities, consistently showed a positive attitude and enthusiastic approach. The winner was Jesse Langford of Kamloops.

 

 ISLAND SAVINGS TRAVEL 6 GRANTS OF $200

(Via application by Zone rep Laura Card Hall) 6 grants were  donated through the ISLAND SAVINGS COMMUNITY (GIFT) program to Vancouver Island Junior and Amateur riders. Recipients were ranked on the basis of their training program,
show record, financial need, and volunteer hours

YOUTH EQUITATION GRANT (NANCY OLSON) $500


This grant was for the highest ranked young amateur rider age 21 and under who competed in the Dressage Equitation Division at least twice in the competition season atTraining or First Level. The winner was Marina Muir of Ladysmith.



PAT AND MARK DUMONT POST SECONDARY EDUCATION GRANT $500

This Grant was for a Dressage rider (open or amateur), enrolled in a Post Secondary Education program at a recognized College or University. The selection criteria included academic results as well as a proven track record in related areas such as volunteer work, contribution to the sport, and sportsmanlike conduct. The winner was Haley Martin of Vancouver.
 

THUNDERBIRD SHOW PARK TRAVEL GRANT $500

This grant was for a dressage rider from any division who incurred significant travel costs to compete at the Thunderbird Show Park Regional Championships. The selection criteria included competition results as well as contribution to the sport, volunteerism and good conduct. The winner was Loni Atwood of Campbell River.
