Who receives and manages the money I donate?

Accepted Answer

The BC Amateur Sport Fund receives and manages the money you donate. Dressage BC does not hold or manage any of the donations received in support of the Dressage BC High Performance Program.

Question 2

What happens if all the money isn't spent/awarded during the current funding opportunity period?

Accepted Answer

Any money not awarded or spent during the current funding opportunity period remains available in the BC Amateur Sport Fund and will be deferred to the next funding opportunity period. Your gift to the Dressage BC High Performance Program Fund will never be used for any other Dressage BC initiative.

Why are the scores required in the performance criteria so high?

The purpose of the Dressage BC High Performance Program Fund is to support BC athlete/horse combinations with the ultimate goal to represent this province and Team Canada at international competitions. Aligning the performance objectives and program criteria with the Equestrian Canada National Team Program criteria and qualifying scores  creates realistic performance goals and expectations for our applicants.

Can I donate to a specific athlete?

Accepted Answer

No, donors cannot choose a specific athlete as the beneficiary of their gift.

Can I donate to a specific opportunity or other part of the Program?

Accepted Answer

No, donors cannot direct their gift to a specific opportunity or other part of the Dressage BC High Performance Program Fund.

Question 6

Does the Awards Committee or other decision-makers know who the donors are?

Accepted Answer

Donors have the option to remain anonymous at the time of their donation to the program. Other donors who choose to be identified will be recognized publicly so that we can appreciate and recognize them for their generous support. The identity of donors does not influence either the objective criteria of this program or the allocation of funding to eligible athletes.

How much funding will you give to each athlete and funding opportunity?

Accepted Answer

The amount of funding available for each athlete and funding opportunity depends on the success of our fundraising efforts.

Why are there no CDI funding opportunities for Young Riders, U25, and Young Horse athletes?

Inclusion in sport is a priority for us. Dressage BC designed the High Performance Program Fund to serve as a template for other Horse Council BC members and disciplines interested in creating similar funding programs. We hope this program template will be used to develop additional programs for our members – for example, Young Riders, U25, and Para-dressage athletes who want to compete at CDIs.
