With a generous endowment, 10 x $250 education grants awarded to DBC memberswho rode in a dressage clinic between Oct 1, 2022 and Sept 30, 2023. 7 Grants to be awarded to junior/amateur riders and 3 to open riders.
Timothy was born in Wales. He trained and worked with Molly Sivright in the UK and after obtaining his BHS instructor accreditation, he furthered his training in Europe before moving to Alberta to train and show Friesen horses in dressage for a prominent breeder; he also worked and trained with the eventing coach Robert Coates. In the 1990’s he relocated to Vancouver Island where he continued in his disciplined, kind, patient and encouraging manner to coach and train in both dressage and driving.
Timothy Sorfleet was a well respected Equestrian Canada dressage judge and coach who is remembered as a true gentleman in our sport, one whose long time students respected as a mentor and friend.
Applications for this grant to be submitted thru the DBC portal including details of the clinician, cost, date and location of the clinic as well as a short statement on the biggest learning takeaway they had from their time at the clinic. All applicants will be placed in a draw. 7 junior/amateur riders and 3 open riders will be drawn from the list of applications for a total of 10 grants. Draw will be made at the DBC AGM.
